A concrete overlay is a high-strength, polymer-modified fiber concrete coating applied directly over your existing concrete surface. This allows us to completely change the texture, color, and design—replicating natural stone, slate, or wood—without the cost, mess, and disruption of total concrete removal.
Most stable concrete can be resurfaced. If your concrete has surface scaling, minor cracks, or discoloration, an overlay is the perfect solution. However, if the concrete is severely structurally compromised, shifting, or crumbling to the base, replacement may be necessary. We assess your surface's structural integrity before starting.
Before applying any decorative overlay, we perform rigorous surface preparation. We clean out, treat, and fill existing structural cracks with specialized high-strength epoxy or polyurea repair compounds. For moving expansion joints, we honor them in the design to ensure the overlay doesn't crack down the road.
No, not when installed correctly. We use advanced, polymer-modified mixes engineered specifically to bond chemically with your underlying concrete. These systems are highly flexible and designed to expand and contract with Southern Ontario’s harsh freeze-thaw cycles without delaminating or peeling.
Gloss-sealed concrete can become slick when wet, especially around pool decks or front steps. To prevent this, we integrate a specialized anti-slip aggregate (slip-resistant grit) into our final sealer coats. This provides excellent traction for bare feet and shoes while keeping the finish beautiful.
